driving towards the basket before lobbing a pass towards the rim. At the other
end, UNLV guard Donovan Williams attempted to block the shot but was met with a
soaring Andrew Garcia, who threw down a thunderous one-handed dunk.
Both Brown and Garcia were standouts at Bay
Area high schools before making their way to Cal. Brown, a product of Newark
Memorial High School, was a three-star recruit and ranked as the 22nd best
point guard in the country in the class of 2019. Garcia, who played at San
Lorenzo High School, was a two-time conference MVP and averaged 20 points per
game in his senior year.
The alley-oop dunk was just one of several
impressive plays from the Bay Area duo, who combined for 28 points in the game.
However, despite their efforts, Cal was ultimately defeated by UNLV by a score
of 68-62.
The highlight-reel play is sure to be one of
the most talked-about moments from the NCAA Tournament, particularly among Bay
Area basketball fans who followed the careers of Brown and Garcia in high
school.
