CJ McCollum Takes Subtle, Playful Jab at Trail Blazers' Misfortunes

When asked about the Blazers' struggles to make
deep playoff runs, McCollum replied with a sly grin.
"Well, you know what they say," he
said. "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. And if that doesn't
work, blame the refs."
The comment drew a chuckle from the interviewer
and showed McCollum's ability to take a lighthearted approach to a serious
subject.
Of course, the Blazers' playoff struggles are
no laughing matter for McCollum and his teammates. They've come close to making
the NBA Finals in recent years, only to fall short in heartbreaking fashion.
But McCollum knows that dwelling on past
failures won't do any good. Instead, he's focused on what the Blazers can do to
finally break through and compete for a championship.
"We know we have the talent to make a deep
playoff run," he said. "It's just a matter of putting it all together
and executing when it matters most."
For McCollum, that means being a leader both on
and off the court. He's one of the team's most experienced players, and he
knows what it takes to compete at the highest level.
"I try to lead by example," he said.
"I work hard every day and try to stay positive, even when things aren't
going our way. And I try to help my teammates do the same."
As the Blazers gear up for the final stretch of
the season, all eyes will be on McCollum and his teammates. If they can stay
healthy and play to their potential, they just might have a chance at finally
breaking through and competing for a championship.
And who knows? Maybe they'll even be able to do
it without blaming the refs.
